Sunday marks the beginning of National EMS Safety Week.
It's a way to bring together local communities and medical personnel to help promote safety and honor those who provide life-saving services every day.
News10NBC stopped by Sunday's EMS Day in the Park at Genesee Valley Park where EMS crews from across the area came out to spend some time together outside of work.
"We see each other all the time when we're busy with emergencies. We don't often get a chance to sit around in a park and eat and have a good time together. So we had several hundred people show up today and we're hoping we hit a lot more than that next year,” said Mark Tornstrom, chairman for the Monroe-Livingston Regional EMS.
The event featured an award ceremony along with a chicken barbecue, games, ambulance vehicle displays and games for the kids.
