A high-end Canadian suit maker is in negotiations to purchase Hickey Freeman.
The pending deal with Samuelsohn would keep Hickey Freeman in Rochester and would preserve jobs, plus potentially adding new ones.
News10NBC is told under the pending deal that Authentic Brands would license the Hickey Freeman brand to Samuelsohn and would aim to bring the Rochester plant to capacity, which is not currently the case. Samuelsohn's plan would be to add more work to the Rochester factory to stabilize its current 350 union workers, and they then intend to add more jobs.
Samuelsohn and Hickey Freeman are hoping to finalize a deal this summer.
