Criminal charges against the mayor of Brockport have been dropped. Ogden Town Justice David Murante says there was not enough evidence to support charges of official misconduct and falsifying business records against Mayor Connie Castaneda.
She was arrested last year, accused of illegally renting rooms in her home to college students. News10NBC spoke with the mayor after the decision. Castaneda said, “When you bring a discussion to the table and people refuse to sit down and discuss it in a civilized manner and make it personal, then it becomes a problem and I think that's exactly what happened.”
Castaneda still faces code violations. When we spoke with her Tuesday night, she said she still had to speak with her lawyer about those.
