A scandal that rocked the college sports world is now making its way to federal court.
A former Syracuse University basketball coach is suing ESPN for $11-million for defamation. This story comes from our affiliate in Syracuse.
Bernie Fine, a longtime assistant of head coach Jim Boeheim, was accused of sexual abuse in 2011 by former SU ball boy Bobby Davis and another man.
According to papers submitted to the U.S. District Court in Syracuse, Fine claims ESPN defamed him when it reported on these accusations.
Fine was never charged.
An initial hearing on the lawsuit is scheduled for July 18.
