There was a special tribute Saturday honoring a small group of men who were actually barred from fighting to keep this country together.
A ceremony at Mount Hope Cemetery honored the men of color from Rochester who fought in the Civil War.
After the Emancipation Proclamation, they joined a unique band of brothers in the Union Army.
News10NBC photo-journalist Garry Stanley put together a story on the ceremony.
