According to WSTM in Syracuse, a two-year-old girl drowned Saturday evening at a park in Oneida County.
Police say the toddler wandered away from her parents around 7 p.m. Saturday at Washington Mills Athletic Park in New Hartford.
Officials say the toddler then fell into the Sauquoit Creek and was swept about 1,000 feet in the creek before a relative was able to pull her from the water. First responders were unable to revive her when they arrived.
More information is expected to be released on Sunday. The park is closed due to the incident.
