A lot of people have been talking about breast cancer prevention following Angelina Jolie's recent decision to have a preventative double mastectomy after testing positive for the BRCA 1 gene. That gene was identified thanks in large by a woman named Annie Parker.
Parker lost her mother, sister and a cousin to breast cancer. Her subsequent diagnosis and increasing belief that it wasn’t coincidence, led to the groundbreaking discovery of the BRCA 1 and BRCA 2 genes.
Annie Parker’s story comes to life in the movie, “Decoding Annie Parker". Gilda's Club Rochester will present the Rochester premiere of the movie on Monday June 24 at the Dryden Theatre at the George Eastman House at 7:00p.m. For more information about the movie and tickets, click here.
Bob Russell from the Gilda's Club spoke about the premiere with News10NBC's Lia Lando. To see the interview, press play on the video player.
