The Finger Lakes Riesling Festival will go on as planned. News10NBC has learned that the festival will be moving this year because the old site has been deemed as a brownfield.
Organizers say the show will go on and they are currently in talks with the City of Canandaigua. They say the festival will not move far, maybe a few hundred feet away at the most.
"This is a family-friendly event, and public safety is our top priority," festival co-founder Howie Jacobson said. "Every event brings its own set of unique challenges. We're certain we have a solution that will still accommodate all vendors and activities the festival has to offer. As we firm up details with the city, we will be sure to keep the community informed."
The event will be held August 10 and 11. The Riesling Fest features more than 25 area wineries and breweries. It also helps raise money for the Canandaigua YMCA.
