It’s being called the second miracle on the Hudson. A helicopter pilot who made an emergency landing in the Hudson River has ties to Western New York.
Mike Campbell is a Buffalo native. His uncle told our affiliate Campbell and four Swedish tourists took off from Wall Street Sunday afternoon for a sight-seeing tour. After just 12 minutes in the air, they heard a boom and the chopper lost power, landing on the water.
Campbell was able to activate safety devices to keep the helicopter afloat. A civilian boat took everyone to shore.
They are all okay.
