A local church will hold a celebration on Wednesday in honor of the Supreme Court’s decision to strike down the Defense of Marriage Act.
The special ceremony will take place at The Episcopal Church of St. Luke & St. Simon Cyrene on Fitzhugh Street. The Reverend Michael Hopkins says the Two Saints community has been working to achieve equality for gay couples and that it’s time to pause and give thanks.
The ruling means married gay couples can get federal benefits.
The ceremony begins at 6 p.m. at the church.
