A Henrietta man is dead after a head-on crash in Steuben County Thursday evening.

The Steuben County Sheriff's Office says 19 year-old Curtis Schmidt was unable to recover from the massive head injuries he suffered in the crash.

Sheriff's Deputies told our affiliate WETM in Elmira that Schmidt was driving an ATV and 21-year-old Daniel Efthimiou was operating an off-road motorcycle Thursday when they both went over a hill. Deputies say neither driver could see each other on the hill and they collided head-on.

Both were taken to Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre where Schmidt later died. Efthimiou suffered several broken bones and a severe head injury. He remains in critical condition Saturday night.

Deputies say neither driver was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. No charges have been filed at this time.
