Rochester Police say one man is dead, and two other men are recovering following a shooting Friday on the city's north side.
The shooting happened just before 10:00p.m. Friday while there was a large gathering of people on Boston Street between Joseph Avenue and Remington Street. When officers arrived on scene, they found 20-year-old Tahje Orane and 21-year-old Treyshon Pittman with gunshot wounds to the upper body. Orange's injuries were considered life threatening and both victims were taken to Strong Hospital.
Police were then informed a third victim, 21-year-old Sherrick Williams, was shot in the upper body and was taken to Rochester General Hospital in a private vehicle.
Orange died from his injuries on Saturday morning. Pittman and Williams injuries were considered non-life threatening.
Police say the circumstances of the shooting made for a difficult scene.
"It was a challenging scene, because of the number of victims we had to attend to," says Rochester Police Captain Ray Dearcop. "There were a number of family members at the scene as well as a number of citizens in the area that wanted to see what was going on. Coupled with the officers that were responding to the scene and emergency personnel."
Police are still looking for the suspects in this case. Witnesses tell police they saw two suspects running from the scene following the shooting.
