If you rent a modem from Time Warner Cable to surf the internet, keep an eye on your monthly bills. According to Reuters, the cable company says fees for renting modems with its popular internet plan will go from $3.95 a month for most customers to $5.99 a month.
Analysts say the $2 jump could net Time Warner another $151-million in revenue. Company officials say the fee is being raised because the cost of supplying the modem.
Customers have the choice to opt out by buying a modem that will work with Time Warner's system.
Last week, the company announced it's also raising internet rates.
