A car you've seen on the road for years gets a brand new look and a top rating. The Chevy Impala is roaring back in style. It’s the first American sedan in 20 years to earn Consumer Reports top rating.
The redesigned 2014 version of the Impala began arriving at dealers earlier this year and just recently scored 95 out of 100 points to receive an "excellent" rating.
Manufactured by General Motors, the new Impala scored 32 points higher than the previous model which was last redesigned in 2005. It even outscored some high end luxury brands.
According to Consumer Reports, auto testers praised the car for its agility, braking and quiet roomy interior, as well as electronics that are simple and easy to use.
Only two cars earned higher overall scores – the electric Tesla Model S and the BMW 135i coupe.
