In Fairport on Friday evening, a walk to honor five "angels" was held...
The Angel Walk is held every year in memory of Bailey Goodman, Hannah Congdon, Meredith McClure, Sara Monnat and Katie Shirley. Those five girls were killed in a crash in 2007, just days after they graduated from Fairport High School.
Proceeds from Friday's three-mile walk benefit the Joey fund which helps families of Fairport students recently affected by a disaster, crisis or other situation. We spoke with Mike Goodman, who is the father of Bailey Goodman and an organizer of this walk. We asked him what words of encouragement he had for the family of the victims of another tragic crash in Wheatland.
"The one thing to let those people know in the other communities is they're not alone" says Goodman. "There's a group that understands what they're going through. It's difficult. The sense of community that we've seen is what kind of helped us and we see it's happening in other areas."
Goodman told News10NBC says the sense of community helped the Fairport families through and that made him want to keep the walk going.
