The Department of Transportation has announced that it will be making improvements this week to the intersection where three young adults were killed in Wheatland last month.

DOT will make State Route 36 and North Road in Wheatland a four-way stop. The DOT commissioner says tree removal and other improvements to help drivers see will also take place. They say the changes will improve safety at this intersection. Work will begin Wednesday morning and is expected to be completed by the end of the week.

Taylor Binnert, Christopher and Emily Peterson, all of Caledonia, were killed when the Jeep Wrangler they were in collided with a tractor trailer at that intersection. Two others, Joanne Kruchten and Michaela Murphy were severely injured in the crash. Strong Hospital says Murphy and Kruchten has been released from Strong Hospital. Kruchten's family says she is now at a brain injury rehab center.
