While school hasn't officially started yet, many student athletes have been on the practice field for weeks.
Just like professional athletes, kids can suffer sports injuries from sprains to concussions and even broken bones.
According to the CDC, high school athletes account for an estimated 2 million injuries, 500,000 doctor visits and 30,000 hospitalizations each year. More than 3.5 million kids under age 14 receive medical treatment for sports injuries each year.
News10NBC's Lia Lando talked with Dr. Chris Brown, who is an orthopedic surgeon. He told us about some strategies you can use with your kids to avoid injuries and what parents need to know to keep their kids healthy.
