Lyme disease appears to be more prevalent in the U.S. than what's generally reported to public health experts.
Ticks spread Lyme disease which can cause fevers, headache, fatigue, a skin rash and more severe symptoms if left untreated.
Now a preliminary report from the Centers for Disease Control and prevention finds about 300,000 Americans are diagnosed with Lyme disease every year.
That's 10 times higher than what's usually reported to the CDC. The new numbers also take into account insurance claims, lab surveys and a survey of the general public.
