A former Monroe County Sheriff's Office employee is facing charges for falsifying business records.
John Cheer, 52, of Fairport, is charged with falsifying business records and official misconduct. The Sheriff's Office initiated an internal investigation that eventually lead to a criminal investigation involving Cheer. The charges are the result of a three day investigation that occurred over the last week. The investigation did not reveal that Cheer stole any money.
Cheer was employee with the Monroe County Sheriff's Office Civil Bureau. He resigned from the sheriff's office on August 19. He was issued an appearance ticket for Rochester City Court where he is scheduled to appear on August 28.
