We are just a week away from Primary Day and on Tuesday, the two democratic candidates for Rochester mayor faced off in a debate.

Current Rochester Mayor Tom Richards and Rochester City Council President Lovely Warren squared off at the Rochester Rotary Luncheon at the Riverside Convention Center Tuesday afternoon. Both are hoping to secure their party's nomination for the November ballot.

The candidates spoke about what they feel the most important points in their campaign are.

Warren said, "Decreasing the gap between the have and the have-nots, strengthening neighborhoods and building strong intergovernmental relations, building better police community relations are all things we need to do, things as mayor I will do."

Richards said, "We've got to fix what got broken and the government is not going to do that all by itself it's not about moving around government benefits or government opportunities we got to build an economy back into this place."

The winner of next week's primary will appear on the democrat line for the general election in November. Also seeking the office, green party candidate Alex White.
