A Greece Police officer has been pulled off the job and is accused of possibly using excessive force.
The incident happened at the Greece Police Department headquarters on Saturday. Investigators say a suspect was arrested in connection with a domestic violence incident earlier in the day.
When he got to the headquarters, he did not obey police orders and in fact, verbally threatened the officer. Investigators believe that's when the officer possibly went too far.
The Greece Police Chief says he believes his officers should always perform at a high standard.
Chief Todd Baxter, Greece Police Department, said, "We raise ourselves to quite a high standard here in Greece because of who we are and who we've been so I look at professionalism as always the first clue. Is the actions of a police officer being a professional?"
The suspect suffered injuries to his eye and head. The internal investigation is expected to be completed next week. The officer has been placed on involuntary leave.
