Imagine a thief walking through your house, taking whatever they want. All while you and your children are asleep.
It happened to several families in Webster early Friday morning on Cherry Laurel Circle. Police say a total of six homes were targeted, five were broken into and four were burglarized.
The incidents have the community on edge, especially since the burglar easily made his way through the window. A lot of these victims say they are very comfortable in their neighborhood. Sometimes they leave their doors unlocked, sometimes they forget to turn on their alarms.
But now, that neighborhood will lively be looking everything and police so should you.
"It's a feeling of violation and it's uncomfortable," says Andrea Fricano. "It's not fair to the people who have to deal with it."
Andrea Fricano got a text message Friday morning that there were robberies on her street, but little did she know she was one of the victims.
Fricano says, "It's hard to accept that when I was sleeping somebody was walking around and I'm just glad that we're all safe."
The thief made away with cash and electronics and the Fricano family wasn't alone. Six other houses were targeted and four others were burglarized.
There are things you can do to protect your family--no matter where you live.
"The sense of security, people get lulled into it," says Lieutenant Dennis Kohlmeier. "You have to make sure that your car doors are locked, your house doors are locked and that your first floor windows are locked."
For some residents those precautions won't be enough.
Victim Heather Turner says "As of this afternoon, I now have a security system and motion sensors that have also been installed in the back of my house. Previously, as of yesterday they were not there."
Police don't have any leads at this hour and they aren't sure if the burglar acted alone. They are hoping someone out there knows something and if you have any information about these burglaries, you are urged to call 911.
