A program geared to make sure families in need have enough to eat is now underway at the Rochester Public Market.

Customers who take part in the Food Stamp Program will now be given an extra $2 for every $5 they spend at the market. It's part of the Fresh Connect Checks Program. Organizers say it's a win, win.

More people in our community are eating healthy by buying fresh fruits and vegetables and farmers are able to benefit as well because shoppers are able to buy more.

Public Market officials say more than 550 shoppers used the program last alone.
