More than 10,000 people people took part Sunday morning in a walk to fight against breast cancer.

Officials says the three mile Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk is an effort to educate people on how to reduce their risk of breast cancer while raising funds to benefit cancer research.

"I'm hoping that we can really find a cure for this. They've come so far already and I hope that we can eventually cure this stupid disease and nobody will have to do this anymore,” said Liz Boehm, breast cancer survivor.

Organizers say that money raised at the event helps fund "groundbreaking" research that helps prevent and treat breast cancer while searching for a cure.

So how much money was Rochester able to raise? More than $800,000!
