Dirk Hightower, Children's Institute Executive Director, said, "It really highlights people who have gone above and beyond what most people do in the world. They really stretch themselves to provide ongoing support and sometimes its financial but most of the time its intellectual. they have strong commitments to the organization and to children, which is our primary focus."
David Broadbent, a former member of the board of directors, Saron DeVita, a 30-year employee of the Children's Institute and Audrey Cummings, a social worker for the Rochester City School District were the recipients of the year's awards.
