Some religious leaders are coming together to remember the 15-year-old who was gunned down last week.

Police say Tysean Williams was shot while trying to defend his grandmother inside her home Wednesday night. Investigators say a 22-year-old was arrested in connection with the murder. Police are having a news conference Tuesday regarding the arrest.

But Monday night, religious leaders say they're joining forces to reach out to the community.

Rev. Dr. Rickey Harvey, Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, said, “We are coming together to say that right now we understand through this tragedy the need for mental illness care, the need for education and the need for poverty to be addressed in a more direct way.”

Several churches are coming together to hold a prayer vigil for Tysean Williams and all other victims of crime. It is Wednesday at 6:00 p.m in the west parking lot of Mount Olivet Baptist Church on Adams Street in Corn Hill, directly across the street from the scene of the deadly shooting.
