Spreading the family-feeling of its college to the entire city was the goal of a new initiative at St. John Fisher College.
The college held its first ever "Fisher Cares" day Tuesday. Students and faculty came together to do different projects, impacting the community around them.
They made homemade Christmas cards for seniors in our area, wrote letters to soldiers, made cat toys to donate to Lollypop Farm and even sewed blankets for residents of an assisted care facility.
Kara Crosson said, “Fisher is known for its Fisher family and when you're on campus, you really feel like you're part of the family, and so we want to bring that ethic of caring off campus."
As part of the event, different community organizations were also invited to come teach students about different volunteer opportunities throughout our area. School leaders area hoping this is the first of many “Fisher Cares” events.
