Honoring Chief James Sheppard for his service to the city and the Rochester Police Department. A retirement luncheon was held at the Rochester Plaza Hotel Thursday afternoon.

Chief Sheppard announced he was retiring from the force last month. He will leave office at the end of the year. You can tell it was an emotional day for the chief who wanted to thank all the officers who have worked under him over the years.

Chief Sheppard says, "Credit goes to the people who do they job. My role is basically to be the face of the department and set a direction. But they go out there everyday and made me proud."

We're still waiting to hear from Mayor-elect Lovely Warren on who will replace Sheppard. We'll continue to track that story and bring you any new developments as soon as they become available.
