Looking for a sweet treat for you holiday party? Try Etna’s Italian Pastry Shoppe on Lyell Avenue in Gates. They won Rochester Rocs for Best Holiday Pastry Shop with with 32% of the vote.
The owner's father brought his family to Rochester from Italy in 1968 to work as a master chef at Savoia's. Ten years later, they opened their own shop. They named it Etna because the town they're from in Sicily is right below the volcano, Mount Etna.
We asked the owner what makes Etna’s so special. Nuccio Scuderi said, “We make everything from scratch. Our cannoli shells, the filling, our cookies. Everything made fresh every day here every day.”
Congrats to Nuccio and his team at Etna's!
Rochester Rocs will continue in 2014. In January, we will be looking for the best cheerleading squad!!
