An arrest has been made in a story we first told you about in July. State Police say a Hornell officer has been charged after $15,000 went missing from the evidence room.
Troopers say 39-year-old Jennifer Speed, of the Hornell Police Department, is charged with grand larceny, tampering with public records, falsifying business records and tampering with physical evidence.
Investigators say Speed is responsible for $15,000 that went missing on June 18 from the evidence room at the Hornell Police Department. That money had been taken into evidence related to the arrest of Steven Brockway for attempted murder in March of 2012.
News10NBC is told the money had been forfeited and was turned over to the district attorney's office. Troopers say the money was supposed to go towards the medical expenses for the victim in the case, but went missing before it could be distributed.
Speed was taken to Steuben County Jail and will be arraigned in Steuben County Court.
