The new bishop of the Rochester Catholic Diocese will be installed with two days of prayers and church services.
Bishop Salvatore Matano will be installed starting January 2 with solemn vespers, or evening prayers at Sacred Heart Cathedral on January 2. On January 3, a installation mass will be held also at Sacred Heart Cathedral. This will officially install Matano as the diocese's new bishop.
Because of space, both events will be closed to the public. News10NBC plans to stream the mass live on www.whec.com.
Matano replaces Bishop Emeritus Matthew H. Clark, who led the Rochester diocese for 33 years before retiring in July 2012. The Vatican last month named Matano to lead the Rochester diocese.
