Swedish researchers are taking a second look at the popular belief that antioxidants could hold the key to preventing cancer.
In a new study, researchers at the University of Gothenburg gave mice with pre-existing lung tumors Vitamin E supplements and found the supplements fueled the growth of the tumors. However, experts say this does not mean the vitamins cause cancer, but rather explains why smokers who take certain supplements have an increased risk for lung cancer.
Experts also say there is still a lot of research that needs to be done in humans to fully understand the link.
