Experts say more drivers are getting behind the wheel while under the influence of drugs.

The upward trend of "drugged driving" has made recent headlines after pop star Justin Bieber was arrested in January for driving under the influence of marijuana and a prescription drug.

Researchers at Columbia University found non-alcohol, drug-related auto accidents climbed from 16.6% to 28.3% during a ten year period ranging from 1999 to 2010. They also found the number of accidents caused by drivers using marijuana tripled from 4% to 12%. Researchers say drugs were to blame for nearly one quarter of driver deaths.
