Valentine’s Day is a day for love and some fourth graders in Gates Chili felt the love big time Friday. It’s all because of their teacher’s name.
Holly Valentine, teacher, said, “Today is Valentine’s Day and when you’re Miss Valentine, you have to celebrate Miss Valentine’s Day.”
For more than 15 years, Holly Valentine has made sure the holiday bearing her name is extra special for her students. The day starts off with heart shaped pancakes. Then the students are given time to make valentines before heading outside for some fun in the snow and finishing the day off with hot cocoa and ice cream sundaes.
News10NBC got some reaction from some very happy students.
Olivia Keller, student, said, “There’s hearts all over the place.”
Alyssa Hackett, student, said, “I think that it’s not about the candy and food. I think it’s about the love.”
Meredith Hart, student, said, “I’m glad to have a teacher like her.”
The students tell News10NBC that the decorations mysteriously appear before they arrive on Valentine’s day and they are going by the time they come in the following day.
