A school bus driver in Avon has been pulled off the job. School officials say the driver was accused of being too rough with a student.
The First Student bus driver won’t be driving for another week when school resumes after the break. That’s the discipline the district has decided is appropriate for the driver who disciplined a third grade student on the bus.
The incident captured the attention of people in Avon when a post appeared on social media detailing the events on the school bus. According to the post, the 8-year-old was on the floor and wouldn't get in his seat. So the bus driver picked him up and slammed him in his seat. The post stated the driver hit the boy and other students.
News10NBC made several attempts to speak with the boy's mother; however, she and other family members declined our requests. We then reached to the school district. Avon Superintendent Bruce Amey did sit down with News10NBC. He said the incident was recorded and he would not provide us with a copy of the video, saying he feared it would further exacerbate this situation, but he wants to set the record straight.
