After 50 years, there are new guidelines when it comes to when you should start brushing your baby’s teeth with fluoride toothpaste.

The American Dental Association now says you should brush as soon as baby's first teeth start to appear. The old rule was to wait until kids were 2-years-old.

Now, the ADA wants you to use a small smear of toothpaste twice a day as soon as those first teeth appear. It’s an amount just enough to prevent cavities while minimizing the risk of spots or discoloring of teeth.
