Authorities say six people have been injured after a car ran out of gas on the Thruway in central New York and was rear-ended by another vehicle.
State police say an 18-year-old woman from Newark was westbound on Interstate 90 when her car ran out of gas around 6 a.m. Friday. Troopers say she pulled over to the left shoulder in the Seneca County town of Junius, but the car came to rest partially in the left lane.
She called a friend following behind her in a sport utility vehicle, but the 18-year-old Geneva man driving the SUV didn't see her car and slammed into the back. The car overturned and landed in the medium.
Troopers say six of the nine people in the two vehicles suffered injuries, none of them life-threatening.
