Beresford made the most of the opportunity, singling home Chris Rahl with the bases loaded in the fifth inning. He finished the game 1-for-3 with a walk and a run scored.
DH Darin Mastroianni went 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored as he extended his International League-best hit streak to 13 games dating back to last August. The Mount Kisco, N.Y. native has now recorded multiple hits in two-of-three Red Wings games this season.
Dan Rohlfing went 1-for-1 with a walk, run and RBI sac fly in his season debut. Notably, Rohlfing has found success at Frontier Field. Last season, the St. Louis, Mo. native batted .486 at home (17-for-35) compared to just .196 on the road (10-for-51).
