A bizarre accident rattles a local family, but what's compelling about this case is how the daughter has sprung into action to prevent this from happening again.

Homeowner Angelique Delmadoros says, "All the sudden, boom, out of nowhere... No screeching tires, just boom. It sounded like a huge explosion in here."

Last Friday, a suspected drunk driver collided with another motorist, nearly forcing the vehicle through Angel Delmadoros home. If it weren't for her boyfriend's truck, the damage would have been much worse.

Scary moments that are all too familiar. In 2010, another car came crashing through and Angel built a fence hoping to prevent it from happening again. But that didn't work. So, her 12-year-old daughter, Summer, decided to take it to the next level and petition the state."
Summer says, "This isn't the first time this happened, so I thought maybe if we put a stop sign on the street we can prevent something else from happening."

Summer posted her story with a video online asking for a four-way stop at the corner of Washington Street and West Avenue. In just three days, she's has already collected nearly 300 signatures.
Since Washington Street is a state maintained road with several crosswalks near a school, Summer's is hoping to get the attention of the New York State Department of Transportation.

Summer says, "The last street light is very far down there and people zoom down to the last one. So, it might break up some of that speed going in there."
