A gala to help the city’s police better take care of our community.
Hundreds of people gathered at the Strathallan for the Blue and Gold Gala on Saturday. The event was put on by the Rochester Police Foundation which is a non-profit organization that helps raise money for the police department. The money goes towards important things that don’t get covered in the budget, like community outreach and police equipment.
“What’s important is this; it gives us a chance for everybody in the community to contribute to public safety to make this a better place to live and by showing their support for the police department and our officers. It gives everybody a chance to make the community a better place,” said Mary Whittier, a board member for the Rochester Police Foundation.
Last year’s Blue and Gold Gala raised approximately $50,000 for the Rochester Police Department. The organization hopes to raise $70,000 this year.
