More than 30,000 people came out to see the Rochester Broadway Theatre League’s production of the Phantom of the Opera. The two-week engagement at the Auditorium Theatre wrapped up last month.
RBTL Presenter Albert Nocciolino said, “We were thrilled that Rochester could be a stop on this brand new North American Tour. It's one of the largest productions on tour and audiences came out in full-force to see the legendary chandelier and beloved story."
RBTL Board Chairman Arnie Rothschild said, "The Phantom of the Opera continued the trend that has been boasted by touring Broadway productions here in Rochester for many years. These 16 performances represented a substantial economic impact for our community."
Officials tell News10NBC nearly 50-percent of ticket sales were from Monroe County and almost 18-percent of patrons were from surrounding cities.
Officials say the economic impact is estimated at $7.7-million.
