Former highway supervisor turns himself in

SCHOHARIE COUNTY – After a three-month investigation, a former highway supervisor turned himself into State Police for stealing diesel fuel from the Highway Department.

Harry Beninati, the 54-year-old former Highway Supervisor in the Town of Wright was arrested after turning himself in Thursday.

Beninati is accused of directing town employees to stop filling out fuel logs in order to conceal the larceny.

He will face charges of falsifying business records, official misconduct, and

petit larceny.
