ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - The ice skating rink at Albany's Empire State Plaza is going to open again this year.

State officials tell the Times Union of Albany reports they hope to have ice down in time for the holiday tree lighting ceremony in the plaza on Dec. 2.

The rink was open last year after being shut down for two years to save the state money.

Skating is free with your own gear and skates can be rented for $4 for adults and $3 for children. The rink will open seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The Hannaford supermarket chain is sponsoring free rental skates on Fridays and there will be free skating clinics on most Saturday afternoons sponsored by Blue Shield of Northeastern New York.
