SARATOGA SPRINGS -The thefts came from parked cars on the Northwest side of Saratoga Springs. Streets off Route 9N, Kirby Road and Buff Road, among others.

But it didn't take long to find the alleged thief. In fact police say 17-year old Damen Davis-Breuer admitted to stealing electronics from cars.

"No houses. He specifically spoke of vehicles he had broken into in the Buff Road, Navy housing area," said Sgt. Tim Sicko of the Saratoga Springs Police Department.

Davis-Breuer was under arrest on an unrelated assault charge when he told police that he was the guy who was stealing from cars. He even turned over what he'd stolen. iPads, iPhones and other electronic gear.

But here's the twist, police haven't received reports from anyone saying they had electronics stolen from their cars. Police even knocked on some doors in the neighborhoods, but so far, no one's saying they lost their gadgets.

"That's weird," said Juan Silva, who lives in one of the neighborhoods that was hit. "I would report it right away. I would like my stuff back or like someone caught."

So the police are looking for the rightful owners of some electronic equipment. They don't want to give an exact description because they think they'll get calls from people claiming property that's not really theirs.

The Saratoga Springs Police Department can't be reached at 518 584-1800.
