HOOSICK, N.Y. (AP) - Officials say an eastern New York man who had been in a coma since being struck by a car while riding his bicycle on Labor Day has died.

Rensselaer County District Attorney Richard McNally says Matthew Ratelle of Petersburgh died Thursday.

State police say the 39-year-old married father of three children was riding his bike around 8:30 a.m. on Sept. 3 on Route 22 in the rural town of Hoosick when he was hit from behind by a vehicle driven by 37-year-old Becky Goodemote of Hoosick Falls.

Troopers say she left the scene without contacting authorities. Goodemote pleaded not guilty to charges including leaving the scene of an accident and driving while impaired by drugs. A grand jury will decide if she should face more charges.
