ALBANY - Albany's first Snow Emergency in more than a year had residents scrambling to move their cars in time to beat the meter maids ticket or the tow truck hook.
Beginning at 8:00 P.M. Thursday, all cars needed to be removed from the odd side of the street or else risk the potential of a ticket and towing charge that could run close to $200.
The Snow Emergency continues Friday night at 8:00 P.M. when cars must be moved from the even side of the street.
The city has opened all roadways in Washington Park to make room from alternative parking. There are also alternative sites in other neighborhoods throughout the city.
For more information on the Snow Emergency, log on to the city's web site at www.AlbanyNY.org or call their hotline at 476-SNOW.
