BENNINGTON, Vt. (AP) - State and local police are searching for 64 illegal drug suspects in southwestern Vermont in what police are describing as one of the largest such operations in Vermont history.
Police say that on Wednesday morning, law enforcement officers launched Operation County Strike in Bennington County.
More than 100 officers are seeking the suspects on charges related to the distribution and sale of illicit drugs.
State Police Col. Tom L'Esperance says troopers are working with multiple state, local, county, and federal agencies to combat the growing drug problem in southern Vermont.
Police and other officials are planning to outline the details of the operation Wednesday afternoon in Bennington.
The suspects range in age from 17 to 61.
