PHILMONT, N.Y. (AP) - State police say a fire that destroyed a 133-year-old church has been deemed accidental.

Investigators say they don't consider Tuesday night's blaze at the Second Reformed Church of Claverack to be suspicious in origin, but the investigation into the cause is continuing.
Officials say the blaze broke out around 6:30 p.m. in the bell tower of the church, located in the Columbia County village of Philmont, 30 miles south of Albany. The fire quickly spread to the structure's wood frame.
Church officials say the building dates back to 1879 but the congregation is celebrating its 175th anniversary this year.
