PITTSFIELD - The Commonwealth of Massachusetts has declared a State of Emergency as it prepares for the possibility of nearly 3 feet of snow, and all travel is now banned on all state roads.
“2 or 3 feet of snow in this period of time is a profoundly different kind of storm than we have dealt with in the time that you and i have been doing this,” said Patrick.
Governor Patrick says the ban on travel throughout the entire Commonwealth of Massachusetts does not apply to emergency workers, utilities, essential deliveries and the media.
Although the purpose is not to penalize offenders, defying the emergency order carries the possibility of a year in jail and a $500 fine.
While Berkshire County may not see the blizzard conditions that the Boston area will, it could up to 2 feet of snow.
