ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - Opponents who say New York's new gun control law infringes on their right to bear arms are criticizing Gov. Andrew Cuomo and legislators, chanting for freedom and taking a collective oath to uphold the constitution at an outdoor rally by 500 protesters in Albany.
The organization Turn Albany Upside Down says Tuesday both the quick passage and some provisions are unlawful. They call the seven-bullet limit on magazines "arbitrary and capricious."
Carl Paladino, 2010 Republican candidate for governor, also blamed GOP senators who backed Democrat Cuomo's gun bill.
Inside the Capitol, about 75 members of One Million Moms for Gun Control and other groups are praising Cuomo and lawmakers for leadership on gun limits they expect to help reduce violence.
Several Democratic assemblymen say the law won't be rolled back.
